I had previously written that Robert Abel had removed the consecration vows material in which his sites claim these are consecrations to unknown entities, demons, or Satan. Now, it appears that the material has returned on his sites and was relocated to apparitionsites.com. The material there still claims what it did before. I haven’t compared word for word with what was on the consecrationvows.com website but what the material alludes to is exactly the same.
The leading apostolate that promotes the St. Louis deMontfort’s consecration to Jesus through Mary is the My Consecration Apostolate and information can be found at myconsecration.org. Now this is not some simple independent apostolate just being run by some guy with a calling to promote the consecration to Jesus through Mary but a worldwide leader of the devotion. They have approval from Pope Benedict XVI and are partnered with the World Apostolate of Fatima (wafusa.org). The WAF is an official apostolate of the Catholic Church having been approved by the Pontifical Council for the Laity. In addition they are allied with Lighthouse Catholic Media and St. Joseph Communication. I mention all this to bring up a simple point; you could not be more mainstream and approved than the My Consecration Apostolate. What do they promote? Consecration to Jesus through Mary or the St. Louis deMontfort consecration to Jesus through Mary. This is the very consecration that Robert Abel’s website maligns as being a consecration to demonic entities.
Today, I contacted Ray Mooney who is the National Coordinator of Parish Consecration with My Consecration Apostolate. I asked him to comment on the material I had unearthed regarding Robert Abel. First of all he was surprised that a Catholic author and speaker would be behind these websites. In addition he stated, “We would not have the friends we have if something was wrong with the consecration or St. Louis deMontfort. We have a DVD endorsed by Pope Benedict and a close association with the World Apostolate of Fatima. Saying that these vows are Satanic or to demons doesn’t make sense considering the support. It seems very clear that this is a consecration to Jesus through Mary.”
That seems to me to sum it up perfectly. Who do you trust? The numerous Popes who have recommended said consecration or Robert Abel’s website? The ecclesiastically approved apostolates that promote these devotions or Robert Abel’s website? The men who are heroic examples of Catholic Faith and martyrdom (St. Maximilian Kolbe) or Robert Abel?
